Working on the score for The Unbreakable Tatiana Suarez, a compelling HBO documentary directed by my long-time collaborator, Cassius Corrigan, was an inspiring journey into the spirit of resilience and triumph. This film tells the powerful story of MMA fighter Tatiana Suarez, following her journey through relentless challenges, both personal and professional. For a story so intense and uplifting, my aim was to compose music that reflects her determination, strength, and the emotional depth of her path.
Throughout the score, I used a mix of percussive elements, orchestral swells, and modern electronic textures to convey the intensity of training and quiet moments of introspection. Tatiana’s story is one of unwavering resolve, and the music needed to both energize and pull back, allowing space for the personal reflections and moments of grit that define her journey.
Collaborating with Cassius once again brought an added depth to the process. We approached each scene with a shared vision, understanding the pacing and emotional layers required to bring Tatiana’s journey to life. When the scenes turn to the physical demands of her training, the score amplifies this intensity, using bold rhythms and dynamic layers. For the quieter, more introspective moments, I wove in softer, resonant tones that echo her inner strength and resolve. The goal was to create a sonic journey that feels as relentless and inspiring as Tatiana herself.
I’m honored to have contributed to this project, which not only sheds light on Tatiana’s achievements but also celebrates the strength of the human spirit. The Unbreakable Tatiana Suarez is now streaming on HBO, and I’m thrilled to share this score that accompanies such a remarkable story.
